Old Dominion Boat Club’s
2nd
Annual Raft-Up Fundraiser
Brings over 40
Boats to Old Town Alexandria
Alexandria, VA (October 2, 2006)
– On Saturday, September 30th, during Seaport Day in
Alexandria, the Old Dominion Boat Club presented Joe Youcha, Executive
Director of the Alexandria Seaport Foundation, with a check for over
$8,000 that exceed last year’s contribution. The money was raised at
the ODBC’s 2nd Annual “Party on the Potomac” Seaport
Foundation fundraiser hosted by Club Members the weekend of September 8th.
Over forty boats from visiting yacht clubs participated in the
weekend’s events filling the Alexandria City Marina and overflowing to
raft-up on the Old Town Alexandria waterfront.
Lorraine Lloyd, Commodore of ODBC and
coordinator of the event, said “Once again the event was a success for
the Seaport Foundation and Old Town Alexandria restaurants and
businesses. Our visiting Yacht Club boaters also had an opportunity to
experience our great Art Festival. We want our Associate Yacht Club
members to view ODBC and Old Town Alexandria as a regular boating
destination.”
Youcha said “The ODBC has been a good
neighbor for a long time. They are always supportive of our needs.
This money will go to help young people who dropped out of school to get
a GED and learn a Trade.”
ODBC hosted the visiting Associate Yacht
Club Members and their friends with a Friday night reception, DockYard
Sale, a Saturday evening auction and dance, and a Sunday farewell
breakfast.
