Fior those who are going by land, we plan on being at CYC by 1:00pm. If anyone has any questions, they can call my Cell Phone @ 678-977-1516. ____________________________________________ COMMODORES REPORT – APRIL 2019 Spring has sprung, and you know what that means right!?! YES, It’s BOATING TIME!! Sock Burning Party, Dock Cleanup, and Spring Thaw all happen this month, (April), and that is just the beginning! The Dock Cleanup and Sock Burning will both occur on the same day, April 13th. The Dock cleanup will occur during the day, so any, and all people are encouraged to participate. Afterward, the Club will provide food and limited drinks, and we will have the festivities at the main club at Prince Street immediately following the Sock Burning at the Club Parking Lot. Spring Thaw occurs on April 27th, where we will leave from our Club to the Capital Yacht Club at the Wharf in Washington, D.C. If you are not planning on driving or riding on a boat, don’t let that discourage you, rather, you are encouraged to come down via Cab, Metro, Uber, Lyft or just drive down, but PLEASE, DO Come on Down!! Again, you are encouraged to come down to the Capital Yacht Club on the 27th of April, because we will have an absolutely fabulous time when we get there!! The Commodore, Tim Fontana, and every one of the other Members there, truly welcome all of us with open arms. And if you haven’t been to the new DC Wharf, you don’t know WHAT you’re missing, because it’s fabulous, wonderful and fun! There are plenty of great bars & restaurants, not to mention all the kids and adult life-size games on their docks at the Wharf!! So, please, as many of you that can come to the Spring Thaw the 27th of April, please do come to the Capital Yacht Club, located at the DC Wharf in Washington. On another note, I want to give a shout out to our Social Chairman, Ralph Wallace, and everyone else at our Club, who helped make the St. Patty’s Day Party a HUGE success!! With that in mind, the Capital Yacht Club came out in force with about 40 of their Members showing up and eating and drinking a bunch, and they were great!! While I have the Capital Yacht Club apparently on my mind, the Capital Yacht Club is having a dock party on the day and evening of pedalpalooza, which is the first Saturday of April, (the 6th). The Commodore and other members there, (Capital Yacht Club), whole-heartedly encourage as many of our Members to show up for their Dock Party as possible, (at the Wharf in Washington, D.C.). You don’t have to have a boat to join in on the fun, so please I encourage you all to go. I would probably Uber there and back though, because they said that they plan on bar-hopping the Wharf right after the fireworks at their dock party. If any of you have any questions/concerns about either, please feel free to call me, (Adam Berman), on my cell phone, (678-977-1516), and I will be more than happy to assist/answer any questions regarding any and all of these events. I would also like to thank Robert Mintz, (Son of longtime ODBC Member Myron Mintz), for exchanging Burgee’s with his Club in South Carolina, River Island Yacht Club, where he is the Treasurer of that Club. Here are some pictures of our St Patrick’s Day Party on St. Patty’s Day, along with the wonderful Members of Capital Yacht Club…HAPPY BOATING!!
