Sock Burning & Spring Thaw Cruise

April 14th, 11:00 am

On Saturday, April 14th the club will be holding it’s annual Sock Burning Ceremony followed by our “Spring Thaw Cruise” for all ODBC members.

We will gather at the ODBC King Street docks at 10a where the Sock Burning event will start at 10a.  Please join us with your sock etc. to burn and welcome in the Spring and adios to Winter.

For those going on the Spring Thaw Cruise, we will depart the docks at 11:30a.  This year will be different, as we will be heading north to the “Wharf” in the Washington channel. We will gather at the ODBC King Street docks at 10:00 (Sock Burning time) with a 11:30 departure. When we arrive, there will be an adult beverage service for us hosted by the Capital Yacht Club. (This is a cash bar event).  After beverages there are multitude new restaurants along the wharf to dilute the spirits before the return trip to the club.

As this is an event at another club, the rules of reciprocity will be in effect at the Capital Yacht Club, in which each member will be allowed one guest.

There will be three modes of transportation:

-  Ride with a fellow boater on their boat and leave from the ODBC docks (Donation)     See below for signup info.

 -  Take the water taxi to the City pier and back – depart from Alexandria city dock ($20.00 round trip)

 -  Use ground transportation – personal vehicle, Uber, Lyft, cab

So that we can help the Capital Yacht Club plan their staffing and help us assign members to boats, please sign up in our lobby at the club and indicate your preferred mode of transportation.  Or you can email your info to Bruce Catts at BCatts62@gmail.com
